📝 Model Question Paper

Subject: Mathematics
Class: 9
Examination: Unit Test 2025
Maximum Marks: 50
Time: 1½ Hours
Chapters Covered:

  1. Number Systems

  2. Polynomials

  3. Linear Equations in Two Variables

  4. Coordinate Geometry

  5. Lines and Angles

Instructions:

  • All questions are compulsory.

  • The marks for each question are indicated.

  • Use separate steps and figures wherever necessary.

Section A – Very Short Answer Questions (1 mark each)

(Answer in one sentence or one step)

  1. Write the decimal expansion of 1/7.

  2. Find the degree of the polynomial: 4x33x2+74x^3 - 3x^2 + 7

  3. Write the coordinates of the origin.

  4. Solve: 5x+3=05x + 3 = 0

  5. Name the angle formed by two intersecting lines.

Section B – Short Answer Questions (2 marks each)

  1. Express 2\sqrt{2} on the number line (explain in steps only).

  2. Divide: (x2+3x+2)÷(x+1)(x^2 + 3x + 2) \div (x + 1)

  3. Plot the points A(2,3), B(-2,3) on a graph and name the type of line joining them.

  4. Solve the equation: 2x+3y=122x + 3y = 12 for y when x = 3.

  5. In the given figure, if two lines intersect and one of the angles is 40°, find its vertically opposite angle.

Section C – Short Answer Type II (3 marks each)

  1. Check whether 5\sqrt{5} is rational or irrational. Justify.

  2. Find the remainder when x3+2x2x+1x^3 + 2x^2 - x + 1 is divided by x1x - 1.

  3. Draw the graph of the linear equation: x+y=4x + y = 4.

  4. Prove that the sum of the angles on the same side of a transversal line with two parallel lines is 180°.

Section D – Long Answer Questions (4 marks each)

  1. Factorise completely:
      (a) x25x+6x^2 - 5x + 6
      (b) x327x^3 - 27

  2. The coordinates of points A and B are (1, 2) and (3, 6). Find the distance between A and B using distance formula.

  3. Two complementary angles differ by 12°. Find the angles using linear equations.

  4. In the figure below (assume a triangle with extended lines), prove that the exterior angle is equal to the sum of the opposite interior angles.

Tips for Preparation:

  • Revise the formulas of all chapters.

  • Practice plotting points and drawing graphs.

  • Solve previous year question papers.

  • Time yourself during mock tests to improve speed and accuracy.
